The primary focus, and the objective of the grades 11 & 12 Culinary Arts Program at Superior Heights is the operation of the cafeteria and bistro. Students will develop the skills necessary for commercial food preparation as they experience learning in a hands-on teaching kitchen. Students will have an opportunity to work in an actual restaurant/cafeteria which will increase their chances for future employment within the hospitality industry.

 

Students will gain practical cooking and serving experience on a daily basis by rotating through different front/back of the house stations which consists of; Soups/Stocks, Entrees, Sandwiches/Salads, Baking/Desserts, Restaurant Operation/Service and Kitchen Sanitizing.

In addition to the daily operation of the cafeteria/bistro, Superior Heights Culinary Arts program provides catering services for a variety of functions throughout our high school, the school board, as well as within the community. Students will have the opportunity of preparing, and serving food for a number of events. This program is a  hands-on, work oriented class, ideally suited for a variety of learning styles, and abilities.
